One of my resolutions for the coming year is to actually WRITE about things again (with a few photos here and there), but in the meantime, here’s my after Christmas video for you to watch! Leave me any thoughts on what you’d like to see/read about in the coming new year!
I FINALLY took the time to upload my Sweater Weather Tag video that I did like 3 weeks ago! I know Fall is almost gone, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! I’ll do a Christmas Tag video soon!
By now, those of you who keep up with me know that my blog has a whole new look, and we closed on our new house! We were so excited the day of closing, even though there were a few minor things that weren’t finished when we did the final walk through, which in turn made us almost an hour and a half late for our closing! It did work out, (all except the sprinkler system not working, which has been fixed as of today) and that night my husband, and brother-in-law loaded up our bedroom furniture out of storage and brought it over to the new house. It had been a month since we slept in our own bed, and boy, were we ready! Our first night in our new home, in our old, familiar bed I slept better than I had in a month. The strangeness of being in a new place was offset by the familiarity of being in my own bed. Of course, everything was so exciting, so different, but I felt comforted.
As I thought about the newness of being in our new house, I was reminded of the way it was when I was new in Christ. Thinking back to when I accepted Christ as my Savior as a teenager, I remember not really knowing what would happen, but I knew it was good, and I was excited. Then there was that newness of everything, such as getting baptized, and the encouragement and happiness I had around me from family and friends, and I just wanted it to last. Eventually, the newness did wear off, and I got comfortable in my faith, or perhaps a little too comfortable, which made me less enthusiastic about my salvation, or look forward to spending time with God everyday. I started to look at it as more of a chore, than a gift and privilege. Instead of allowing the excitement and newness of our salvation to become mundane, or taking it for granted (which I know I still find myself guilty of), I am reminded that we need to renew our minds daily, and allow God to speak to us in the everyday, simple things. God will use those everyday situations to allow us opportunities to witness to, and encourage others around us. Then, we can remember that new feeling of our salvation all over again, and stay excited about it!
Right now, we’re still excited about being in a new place, looking forward to our actual moving day this weekend! It’s so funny how we thought this day would never get here, and now it is! I want to leave you with this verse out of Romans, which has been an encouragement to me many times, and a great reminder when I seem to be stuck in a rut: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Just like I don’t want the newness of my house to wear off, I certainly don’t ever want the newness of my salvation to be lost. I need to make it a daily thing to renew my mind with God’s word…and clean my now, two-story house!
I’ve been slack with any posts at all this past Summer, and well…now it’s Fall! So, I’ll skip most all the reasons and apologies, and get to the one that really matters at the moment, and that is: We are MOVING!!!
Actually, we close on our new house tomorrow morning (or rather THIS morning!) and we will finally have a house of our own again! So, when did all of this come about? What made us want to move? Where have we been staying this past month? To start with, this wasn’t something that we had to do. What I mean is, we didn’t have pressing issues, such as job relocation, need of a bigger house, etc. In fact, I didn’t know how much I really wanted to leave my little lovely home of twelve years (that’s a long time to me!) and I’ve been missing it quite a bit. We loved our floor plan (even though it was just a one story), we had some pretty awesome neighbors, privacy of woods behind our house, and a great view of the sunset on the front porch.
And…why are we not still living there? Well, I honestly have to say, I am not entirely sure,
lol other than the fact of, after much prayer, talking, prayer, keeping our eyes open to houses that came for sale, and more praying, we made the decision this past June to go ahead and put our house on the market, and see what happened. I think it really had a lot to do with the lower interest rates at the time as well. Wouldn’t you know it, the very first people who looked at our house, put in an offer! So, within a matter of three weeks, our house was under contract, and we were faced with the chore of packing up twelve years worth of stuff (not an easy chore either!) and finding a new place to call home. We prayed for guidance, and wisdom in the midst of everything, and God brought us to a house we really seemed to like. A brand new home actually, with some things I’ve never had in any house I’ve ever lived in before. For one thing, it’s a two story house, and it has a fireplace! Two things I’ve always wanted since I was a little girl. I won’t go into too much detail right now though, at least until we have the keys in our hands!
It’s been almost a month since we moved out of our very first little house together, and into my mother-in-law’s (while all of our stuff has been in storage). Things have seemed to happen so fast, and it’s all been a little bit surreal to me, but I know it will all come together soon. We aren’t moving too far away, just to a little town about twenty minutes from where we were living before. To us, this will be a new adventure, and a fresh start in a new place. I have thought many a night about trying to keep track of this journey, and I will do my best, amidst the craziness of moving, working, and living, to keep track of our life in our new home. Here’s to a new nest, and new memories to be made!
Wow! Where is Summer going?! It feels like it’s flying by, and I want to enjoy every minute of it! I decided to do the I ♥ Summer Tag originally done by Missglamorizzi (Ingrid) and although I’m kind of quirky, I hope you like it! I TAG YOU!!! I’d love to hear about your Summer faves! Leave me a comment telling me what your FAVORITE thing about Summer is! Thanks Princesses!!!
I know I haven’t done any videos lately and I’m sorry! Here is my July 4th look that I wanted to share! I always love The Fourth of July and all the red, white and blue that goes along with it! Enjoy!
Hi princesses! Sorry I’ve been so busy lately, but to start the month of May, I wanted to of course share what my favorites were for April!
Pretty Spring Colors for Eyes
This is late for Easter, but still fun for Spring!
February Friday Favorites
Hi Beauties! I can’t believe this is the LAST Friday of February! Next Friday is March 1st! I know this is a short month, but it sure seems to have gone by in a flash! I hope you Princesses have had a wonderful week, and for those of you who had a long weekend (like I did this past weekend) then I hope you were able to make the most of it! Speaking of making the most of this past long weekend, I know of two people who really DID make their long weekend magical! My niece, (who’s three years younger than I am) and her husband went to Disney World for the long weekend! AND she brought me back Disney World GOODIES!!! She also sent me tons of pictures from the new Fantasyland, and some really amazing looking new cupcakes (and for those of you who don’t know, I’m a Disney foodie, so it was a big deal to me!) which made my mouth water! Okay, enough Disney World wishing for me! Here’s my favorites round-up for February 15th-22nd:
One of my old managers at Aerie used to use this stuff all the time, and I decided to give it a try too. This is amazing for lips, and even chapped hands! Plus the lovely rose smell is so luxurious! Every time I use this now, I think of Ms. Dianne!
Missglamorazzi had this in her 2012 favorites, and I had really been wanting a good, inexpensive concealer, so I ordered this on drugstore.com and so far I love it! I got the Natural Light shade.
MAC Vanilla Pigment. I do like MAC pigments, and this one is probably (in my opinion) the BEST pigment they have! I think I use this every day. It looks great on eyes, and as a highlighter on cheeks. I’ve even mixed it into lotion and used it as an all over body illuminator.
This would be good for any skin shade.
I love both of my Naked palettes by Urban Decay, but recently I’ve been loving the Naked 2 a lot.
Great colors that can be used for both simple daytime looks, and smokey eyes for evening.
Just got these colors this week, and I think they’re prefect for Spring!
Probably my all time favorite coffee creamer!
I have REALLY been lovin’ me some Cheetos lately! These are awesome! They taste even better to me than the regular ones, and they have less fat and calories. Win.
I am so spoiled to this tea before bed. Just about every night, I HAVE to make a cup of this Sleepytime tea with some honey.
I don’t know why, but I’ve been liking this song “Crystal Vases” by The Last Royals
Once Upon A Time
Once Upon A Time comes on ABC on Sunday nights at 8pm. I’ve been watching this show since season 1 started last back in 2011. Season 2 is almost over I think (not entirely sure), but you can watch episodes online here. Check it out!
I bought this candle before Christmas, and it is probably my most favorite of the Bath & Body Works candles EVER! I can’t describe what it smells like…only that to me, it smells like the inside of Soarin’ at Epcot in Disney World! Yes, I know.
Speaking of Disney World, this is what my awesome niece brought back for me from their trip last weekend! Check out those vintage inspired Mickey Mouse Club ears! This year, Disney Parks is celebrating the “year of the ear” with several Couture ear hats.
Lastly, I will leave you with this video. This aired on the Disney Channel this week. Pretty much the BEST video ever. Period.
February Friday Favorites
Happy Day AFTER Valentine’s Day Beauties! I hope you all had a fun-filled day yesterday! Regardless of whether or not you had a “Valentine” or significant other, I hope you enjoyed just being you! There’s SO MANY wonderful things about you! Whenever you get down, or things aren’t going the way you need them to go, just remember that YOU have a Valentine who loves YOU more than anything! Jesus died for YOU, because YOU were the most important thing to HIM! He loves us more than we can possibly imagine! How romantic is that?!
Well, I had a very good Valentine’s Day working at Aerie, and going by to see all of the beautiful ladies at my other job, Costume Curio, then coming home and my husband and I cooking a very romantic, very DELICIOUS dinner together! My sweet husband gave me some very awesome, and unique Valentine’s gifts! He really surprised me! His gifts to me of course made it on my February Friday Favorites list, so here are my picks for this week of February 8-15:
I needed something to take my makeup off, and decided to try the new Flash Clean by Maybelline, and I LOVE IT! This stuff really takes off all of my makeup quick! It’s a lotion, but NOT greasy at all! I use this at night, and although it says you don’t need to rise, I do follow with my Olay Fresh Effects exfoliating cleanser. Great find!
Found this on a late night Walmart trip one night this past week, and thought it looked interesting. It’s kind of like a light leave in conditioner, and I really like it so far! Here’s what it says on the back of the bottle: “detangles, protects from thermal damage, prevents color fade, moisturizes, de-frizzes, adds body, softness and shine”
Revlon has some colors I’m really lovin’ right now. I’ve had this pretty pink color on my nails for a couple of weeks now, and i’m getting ready to switch to this grayish-purple one next. Love these!
So I had a coupon for any of the Venus razors, and saw the new Venus & Olay in Sugarberry. With my coupon I got it for like $4 maybe? I LOVE this razor! With the moisture bar, you don’t really need a shave gel either, so it’s really nice when you’re in a hurry (which I usually am!) The Sugarberry scent is nice too.
This fragrance was in my Valentine Day to Date Night video, and yes, it’s from Aerie:) I got it this past Fall when it was new, and I think it’s the perfect going out/date night fragrance. It’s a very sweet scent, and is supposed to have notes of “mango, freesia, and sandalwood”. There’s actually a bra named Scarlet that came out at the same time as this fragrance. Very subtly sexy, I think:)
In my Favorites post last week, I had this same CoverGirl jumbo gloss balm in Scarlet Twist, and THIS week I went and got 2 more (only because I had a coupon…it’s true!) so this color was my favorite this week! It’s Watermelon Twist, and I LOVE THIS SHADE! It’s a hot pink, but these are SO SHEER that you really have to layer it to make it look bright. I’ve worn this color a lot this week!
This is possibly my FAVE of the favorites beauties of the week! Not only is this rose bronzer pretty on cheeks, and festive with hearts for Valentine’s Day, but it SMELLS SO GOOD!!! It’s by Physicians Formula, and it’s called Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer & Blush…yes, that’s a mouthful to say, but it REALLY DOES make me smile when, I use it! It’s scented with violets. Here’s what it says on the package: “The sweet scent of Violet provides a feeling of joy each time you apply”. Love this:)
These seemed so appropriate for this month when I found them at Target. They come in a set of 6, and who doesn’t NEED heart socks?!
These adorable PJs were going to be in a Valentine Night In video that I never got around to making, simply because I didn’t have time! I’m thinking of just doing a Cozy Night In video regardless, and featuring them anyway. They’re just too cute, and comfy!
I had posted this photo on Instagram the other day, and yes…I KNOW it’s got underthings in it…but I work at Aerie! We have so many pretty things at Aerie, and I do LOVE my Aerie bras! Customers come in and ask what my favorite bra is, but it’s so hard to choose just one! Right now I have 2 favorites (really more than that) and this bra is one of them. It’s our Harper bra. It has memory foam (yep) pushup, and it’s super comfy (as pushup bras go:)
Here’s my other fave right now: The Jacklyn bra. It’s one of our newest bras that were released about 2 weeks ago, and it has a one piece molded underwire, instead of two separate ones, plus it’s probably the most LIGHT WEIGHT bra I’ve ever seen. Oh, and FYI, we have ALL of our bras (except sports bras) 40% off right now! Shop
Okay, so I HAD to put this in my FAVE wears!!! THIS is one of the gifts my sweet husband gave me last night for Valentine’s Day! A CHOCOLATE MICHAEL KORS WATCH!!!!!!! I was so surprised, and delighted! It’s so pretty, and has rose gold in the face as well! Love this watch!
I’ve been drinking FUZE drinks for awhile now, and this is probably one of my fave flavors. I love these drinks.
Probably my fave go-to cereal, when I eat cereal. I had been craving these, and I’ve eaten them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner this week (no lie!)
DOUGHNUTS! Not only doughnuts, but VALENTINE DOUGHNUTS!!! ‘Nuff said.
Just LOOK at these amazingly delicious filets my husband cooked for us last night! Plus we had salmon cakes, coconut shrimp, and purple garlic mashed potatoes (which I made:) to go with them…and biscuits…and sparkling grape juice. Yes, it was an awesome Valentine dinner:)
Here’s songs I used in my Valentine Video. I’ve been listening to and loving them this week:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/little-thing-called-love/id416073999?i=416074000 -Little Thing Called Love by Misty Miller
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/keep-you-here-me-feat.-johnny/id479633402?i=479633429 -Keep You Here With Me by Jillian Edwards
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/love-you-good/id434287898?i=434287905 -Love You Good by Amy Stroup & Trent Dabbs
I’m a huge fan of Hello Dolly! which came on TV this past Monday night, and I of course watched:) This movie is one of my all time comfort movies. It has lots of great love stories in it, plus, they use a lot of inspirations from this movie in Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World (no wonder I love it so:)
My randoms this week are both Valentine things from my husband. Here is the card he gave me yesterday. It made me smile…
…and made my heart melt :) We both say that our happy place is at Disney World TOGETHER. I love going and visiting when I’m with my niece, or friends, but when I’m there with my husband, it really IS the best place in the world! He said he thought this card was perfect because it reminded him of that thought. And he was right:)
This is from our Disney trip together back in Sept of 2011.
Husband gave me a watch, and…an OWL! Yep, he officially adopted a Barred Owl for us through a place called the Carolina Raptor Center, not too far from where we live. They rescue and help injured or orphaned birds of prey through rehabilitation, education and research. It’s a pretty awesome place, and you can visit the center all throughout the year! They have a lot to do and many birds to see. My owl’s name is Shakespeare :)
Well, that’s it for this week’s Friday Favorites! I’d LOVE to see you Valentine faves for this week, so share them with me on Twitter or Instagram (my Instagram name is dailyprincesslife ;) Thanks lovelies! See you real soon!
It’s been SO busy for me this past week! I had really hoped to get this video done sooner, but better late than never! Hope you beauties enjoy, and have a Magical Valentine’s Day!!!
February Friday Favorites
Hi beauties! Since we are now a FULL week into the month of February, I have decided that I am going to do a Friday Favorites every Friday in February! It’s the shortest month of the year, so why not make it beautiful? I’m starting to think ahead to next month too, because I want to do something fun, spring-y, and Easter-y, AND it’s my birthday month! So, if you beauties have any ideas, I’d love to hear them! This week’s Friday Favorites are a round up of a few beauty, fashion, foodies, music, and some randoms :) So, without further delay, here are my February Friday Favorites for the week of Feb 1-8:
Love this BB Cream from Rimmel! Great coverage!
This Rice Powder helps control shine, which I need!
I really like the new Jumbo Gloss Balms from Covergirl! They give a great sheer pop of color without the feel of a heavy lipstick. Also, there’s no need to sharpen them! They roll up like lipstick, so when you need more product, just turn:)
See how sheer the color is? This red looks great with a neutral eye!
I needed more shower gel, and The Body Shop had this size on sale, so I bought 2. So far I LOVE this smell! Fresh strawberry! Yum!
You guys know I LOVE LUSH!!! I still think this scrub is one of my over-all faves. Smell SO GOOD, and it leaves my skin feeling super soft!
I think it looks like mermaid scrub :)
I’m in LOVE with these cute bows! Perfect hair accessory for a fun Valentine’s look!
I bought this scarf this past weekend in Charlotte at the Aerie store there. The one I work at doesn’t carry cute things like scarves…which is sad :( So, whenever I’m in another Aerie, I usually like to get some cute accessories! Love the bright colors in this one!
Still love my cross bracelet from Charlotte Russe. It came in a set of two or three I think, and I found this nice rose gold one at Pac Sun in Tennessee.
Love my new platinum Sperrys! They go with almost everything, and SUPER comfy!
Okay, I HAVE to have my coffee in the A.M. and I usually HAVE to have a flavored creamer to go in it! My husband suggested trying this one, and it’s SO GOOD! I have used it just about every morning lately!
We stopped by Tevana in Charlotte on our way home this past weekend, and I tried one of the teas they had out for sample. It was actually a mixture of these two teas, and I liked it so much, I bought some to drink at night. These SMELL SO GOOD! Perfect way to wind down at night!
I had been craving these! I used to eat them when I was in college, and haven’t had them in forever! Still one of the best Poptarts ever!
CHEESECAKE FACTORY CHEESECAKE!!! Yes…I did just yell this at you… We always have to stop by and have cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory when we are in a place where they have one (because sadly, we don’t have one where we live…which is probably a GOOD thing!) and this beautiful slice of chocolatey goodness above is my all time favorite! Chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake. I always want to try something new, but I always end up ordering this kind! It’s so good!
I heard this song on one of the XM channels I listen to, and had to go home and buy it!
This is my FAVORITE show right now! I started watching on Netflix back in October, and I think I flew through seasons 1 & 2 in like… 5 nights? Anyway, season 3 started last month, and on Sundays nights at 9 pm, you will find me glued to this show! I LOVE the costuming, and era! It draws on so many important events in history too (like WW1 and Women’s Suffrage Movement).
Love this photo. I’m not sure what (or if) there’s a name for it, but I call it Goodnight Moon.
Finally, here is a favorite human (hehe!) Here is my friend Chrissie Hux! We went to visit her and her husband, who is a youth minister, this past weekend in Charlotte, and they were both wonderful hosts! I just had to include her in my favorites for this week, although she’s ALWAYS a favorite of mine! She and her husband Michael Hux (mostly known as Hux) are both amazing youth ministers and good friends! Check out Hux’s ministry, and their blog as well!
That about sums up this week’s Faves! Let me know what YOUR favorites are right now! I will be putting together a video at the end of the month with my collective, all around Favorites! Stay Magical!
Makeup, Youth Group and…Tornadoes???
Just a few fun things in my life!
